FM 305 - Using PIPE-FLO for Modifying Systems (4 Hours)

FM 305 will give students hands-on experience and practical guidance on using a PIPE-FLO model as a digital twin when system modifications are required for plant expansion, down-sizing, process changes, equipment replacement or bottleneck elimination. Students will learn how to quickly model proposed modifications, compare options, and evaluate the adequacy of the system changes for new requirements as part of the modification process.

Course Objectives:

  • Develop an appreciation for how a PIPE-FLO model can be used as a digital twin throughout the project
  • Learn how to set up a model baseline with the existing system configuration
  • Gain an understanding of how to weigh alternative approaches to achieve project goals
  • Learn how to use sizing tools to optimize your design for all potential operating conditions
