FM310 will give students hands-on experience analyzing common relief valve applications of using PIPE-FLO in a Virtual Instructor Lead Training (VILT) environment. Students will learn the types of relief valves, the approach taken by the API 520 and ISO 4126 standards, and how the equations are implemented in the Relief Valve device in PIPE-FLO. Choked flow conditions will be discussed and adjustments to the PIPE-FLO model will be evaluated. Single and multiple relief valve configurations are analyzed to understand system impacts on the relieving capacity of the valves.
- Understand how the Pressure Relief Device protects downstream equipment from over pressure in a piping system
- Compare PIPE-FLO calculated results to the manufacture data for capacity for different Orifice types in water, air, and steam applications
- Use PIPE-FLO to evaluate digital twins of gas pressure relief systems with multiple vessels protected by relief valves
- Use the Lineup feature in PIPE-FLO to evaluate different operational conditionsGain hands-on experience setting up and executing a goal seeking analysis to set multiple valve positions for a chilled water system
